The bus is the most popular form of public transport in Kazan: in 2016, it transported about 74% of passengers.
The movement of all buses is monitored using an automated control system based on satellite navigation [3] . Any Internet user can track the movement of buses.
Conductors are involved on all routes and, in addition to paying for cash (with a higher fare), there are general civilian ones (with different recharge plans, including travel by deadlines and an "electronic wallet"), as well as preferential electronic transport cards.

History, routes and rolling stock
The first bus flights to Kazan took place in 1925 [4] .
During the existence of bus traffic in Kazan, its development took place in the same way as in most major cities of the country. Thus, in the 80-90s, the main bus fleet consisted of “ Ikarus ”, both single-volume and articulated “accordion” buses. With the development of the city, not all routes cope with passenger traffic, especially during peak hours, in particular the "legendary" routes No. 46 and 56. By the 2000s, this fleet had practically worn out, despite the upgrade by large buses with Russian LiAZ-5256, Czech Karosa, and Turkish Mercedes They were replaced by PAZ buses and Gazelle minibuses, most of which are owned by private owners who have licenses to carry passengers in the city. As a result, new routes were formed which had both advantages and disadvantages.
In 2007, the bus system in the city was radically revised. In addition to reducing, changing and renumbering traffic routes number 99, transport reform for the first time in Russia provided for an almost complete renewal of the fleet on low-floor and semi-low-floor models, with an environmentally friendly Euro-3 engine standard. The reform later received the Golden Chariot national transport award.
The bus fleet has been updated for cars of three classes of different manufacturers - Russian ( NefAZ-5299 large), Belarusian ( MAZ-103 , MAZ-203 large low-floor, MAZ-206 small low-floor), Chinese ( Golden Dragon 6112 large, 6102 medium, 6840 small ; Higer 6118 medium, 6891 small; Yutong 6737 small), Ukrainian ( Bogdan A092 small) and South Korean ( Hyundai County HD17 especially small) production [5] . Before 2007, in a small number of especially large articulated “accordion” buses ( Ikarus , Karosa ) were not involved.
During the implementation of the transport reform, all minibus taxis of small private limited liability partnerships were officially canceled, which for the most part (about 2000 pcs.) Were represented by the PAZ-3205 brand (small) and GAZelle (especially small).
For the first time in Russia, all new buses, regardless of brand, got a red color, similar to London and some others. Among the townspeople, the common noun phrase “red buses” has largely replaced the earlier definition of “minibus”.
In 2012-2013. the park has also been significantly updated: almost all Chinese and Korean middle and small models, such as Golden Dragon , Higer , Hyundai County , Yutong , ISUZU Bogdan , have been decommissioned . New buses were purchased, such as PAZ-3237 , NefAZ-5299-30-32 , MAZ-103 , MAZ-206 . Some routes have been changed and new ones added.
In 2016, 108 large low-floor buses MAZ-203 were purchased. [6] .
On September 16, 2017, route 70 was opened and routes 83 and 98 were closed [7] .
In 2018, over 100 large low-floor buses MAZ-203 were purchased. On May 1, the transfer of route N55 to large-capacity buses began. In August, the Volgabus electric bus was tested, but later it was sent to Veliky Novgorod.
On October 1, buses of the NefAZ-5299-40-57 brand entered the MUP "PATP-2" routes. On October 24, they reached route 62, which is served by Agromir LLC.

Criticism
Despite a decrease in accident rate compared to “minibuses”, “red buses” are often criticized for the driving style of drivers ( migrant workers in large numbers) associated with the race for revenue. The mass termination of some routes of the previously envisaged schedule (by 19:00 - 20:00) also causes dissatisfaction.
In addition, despite the greater comfort in comparison with the former small and especially small buses, the operated majority of the semi-low floor medium and large buses are often criticized by passengers due to the inconvenience of the steps in the rear of the passenger compartment, and foreign models are also carriers for difficulties in purchasing spare parts.
