Iskra is a village [3] in the Budyonnovsky district of the Stavropol Territory of Russia , the administrative center of the rural settlement of the Iskra village council [5] .

Geographical position

Located along the Wet Buffalo River in an open area, which is surrounded by small hills. The village is located 30 km from the city of Budennovsk , 153 km east of Stavropol.

History

On June 20, 1920, on the territory of the former estates of the Kharitonov brothers, consisting of 3 farms, the state farm No. 1 of Blagodarnensky district was formed. After continuous collectivization, the state farm was called the Bolshevik Spark. With the development of state farm production, new settlements began to appear, they were called farms (farm No. 1, farm No. 2, etc.).

During the fascist occupation of the region on August 25, 1942, 29 Jews were killed by the Nazis, and in early October 1942 - more than 10 people [6] .

In 1964, on the basis of the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the RSFSR, all local farms were renamed into villages [2] .

According to the 2002 census , Russians prevail in the national structure of the population (92%) [9] .

Large enterprises and organizations are absent. The local budget is formed at the expense of tax revenues from medium and small peasant farms. Trade services of the village are carried out by the Iskra rural consumer society and private entrepreneurs.
