Mithridates IV Philopath Patron Philadelphus ( Greek: Mιθριδάτης Φιλoπάτωρ Φιλάδελφoς ) - King of Pontus , who ruled from 159 - 150 BC. e.
His father was Mithridates III . The elder brother of Mithridates was the Pontic king Farnak I [1] . He was born and raised in Ponte.
After the death of Farnak, Mithridates became king. He married his sister Laodike [2] . He pursued pro-Hellenic and pro-Roman policies. The first of the Pontic kings to issue gold coins - a sign of the complete sovereignty of the kingdom. In the war of Bithynia and Pergamum, along with Cappadocia, he fought on the side of Pergamum against Bithynia, trying to bring Phrygia under his control.
