The 66th Venice International Film Festival was held in Venice , Italy, from September 2 to 12, 2009 . The jury of the main competition program was headed by the famous Chinese director Ang Lee .

Russian films did not participate in the main competition program of the film festival. The Russian almanac “ Short Circuit ” was invited to the program “Horizons” [1] . In addition, out of competition in the documentary section "Horizons" was shown a film by Alexander Sokurov "Blockade Diaries" ("Reading the blockade book"), and in the short meter competition - tape Murad Ibragimbekov " Object number one " [2] .
