Articulation (from the Latin. Articulo - "dissected") - in phonetics , the totality of the work of individual pronunciation organs in the formation of speech sounds . In the pronunciation of any sound of speech all active vocal organs take part in one way or another. The position of these organs, which is necessary for the formation of a given sound, form its articulation, the separability of sounds, the clarity of their sound.

A stricture is one of the ways of education, that is, the determining factor in how closely the organs of speech approach each other, creating sounds. Parameters other than stricture, are involved in the formation of single- and multi-impact , as well as in hissing fricatives . Nasalization and pronunciation of lateral consonants is also considered a way to form consonants , but some scientists, such as Peter Ladefoged , consider them to be a separate phenomenon.
Articulation of sound consists of 3 stages:
- Excursion - preparation of the speech apparatus for the pronunciation of sound, or the beginning of the articulation;
- Exposure - the pronunciation itself, while maintaining the position of the organs necessary for the utterance;
- Recursion is the end of articulation, which is the end of sound, in which the organs of speech change their position to pronounce the next sound or go to a state of rest.
In real conditions, not separate sounds are usually pronounced, but a speech chain, then the excursion of the next sound is superimposed on recursion, and sometimes on the shutter speed of the previous sound.
