Racket - sports equipment used in game sports: tennis ( tennis racket ), squash , badminton , table tennis and some other less popular games, such as racquetball . The word "racket" comes from the Arabic "rakhat" (rakhat), meaning "palm of the hand."
The racket consists of a handle and a striking surface. A striking surface of a small area can be continuous, for example in a table tennis racket, to reduce aerodynamic drag with a large area it is usually made of stretched strings. In the latter case, the strings are pulled over an oval or teardrop-shaped rim called the racket head . Previously, rackets were usually made of wood, and the strings or intestines of pets were used for strings. Currently, synthetic materials such as carbon fiber and light metal alloys are often used as materials for rackets. Strings are usually made of nylon or other synthetic materials, although cow gut strings are still used to stretch tennis rackets. Racket handles are usually wrapped with a special cloth to help players hold them.

Tennis
Modern tennis is played with graphite racquets, which, due to their playing qualities, have replaced wooden, metal, and fiberglass racquets. However, cheaper rackets made of light metal alloys are still available for amateurs and children. Professional players use rackets, the basis of which is the so-called. carbon fiber - thin threads obtained from carbon-containing fibers (viscose, acrylic , etc.) as a result of a complex technological chain.
Table Tennis
In table tennis , rackets are used made of wood (base), coated with one or two layers of special rubber (lining) on both sides (when using the “feather” grip, sometimes one side of the racket doesn’t have a lining, in this case this side should not be used). The pads on different sides of the racket can be different, they must be uniform in color and matte: one side is black and the other is bright red [1] .
The base of the racket is made of several layers of wood of various species and several layers of titanium, carbon fiber and other materials. According to ITTF rules, the base of the racket should be at least 85% wood [2] . The overlay usually consists of two layers: the outer of the rubber (topsheet) and the inner of the sponge (sponge). The rubber layer can be of two types - spikes inward (smooth) and spikes outward (spikes). Sponges come in different stiffnesses and are measured in degrees - from about 30 ° [3] (soft) to almost 70 ° [4] (hard). Also, the same lining model is made with jaws of different thicknesses, which changes its characteristics. The rules limit the maximum total (rubber plus sponge) lining thickness [2] . Sometimes a sponge is not used and the rubber is glued directly to the base.
Professional rackets are not sold ready-made. The player or player’s coach selects the base and pads individually. In specialized stores, rubber (topsheet) and sponge (sponge) can also be sold and assembled separately.
At the beginning of the meeting and when changing the racket during the meeting, the player must show his racket to the opponent and the judge in order to inspect it for compliance with the rules.
Badminton
Modern badminton rackets are made of hydrocarbon steel. The weight of such rackets is from 80 to 100 grams.
Hagoita
Japanese Hagoit rackets for playing the shuttlecock were made from a flat board without strings. Over time, the popularity of the game fell, and rackets turned into souvenirs , they are decorated with dolls and voluminous applique .
