The VXI standard ( VMEbus eXtention for Instrumentation - an extension of VMEbus for measurement technology) is one of the areas of development for VMEbus . Based on VMEbus, and fully incorporating it as a subset , the VXI interface is an independent standard for instrumentation and control equipment of the highest accuracy class . VXIbus specifications were published in 1987 (version 1), 1998 (version 2), and 2004 (version 3). VXI was adopted as an IEEE standard as IEEE Std 1155-1992. [1] .
VXI format module
The standard defines the requirements for VXI-racks (multi-slot blocks in which VXI modules and power modules are installed), VXI-instruments (measuring or switching modules), etc.
