It is located in the north of the Bryansk region, 39 km north-west of the railway station Dyatkovo (on the line Bryansk - Vyazma ).
Content
History
The village of Bytoshka (Bytosha, Bytoshi) has been known since 1626. This date is considered the year the village was founded.
Status of an urban-type settlement since 1929 .
In 1930 , the adjacent villages of Shevtsovka and Makhovaya Guta were included in Bytoshi, in 1969 - the villages of Torfyanoye and Petrovsky Zavod .

Economics
The Bytoshevsky glass factory for the production of window glass was closed in 2012. Sawmills. A small enterprise for the production of basalt fiber (refractory wool).
By order of the Government of the Russian Federation dated July 29, 2014 No. 1398-r (as amended on May 13, 2016) “On the approval of the list of single-industry towns”, it was included in the list of single-industry towns of the Russian Federation, “in which there are risks of worsening socio-economic conditions” . [2]
