Sergei Nikolaevich Martynov ( Belor. Syargey Mikalaevich Martyn ў ), (born February 22, 1953 , Leninakan , Armenian SSR , USSR ) - Belarusian statesman and diplomat . Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus from March 21, 2003 to August 20, 2012.

Education

He graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (1975). He speaks English , French and Swahili .

Career

Since 1975 - Officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the BSSR , held a number of senior positions, was Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to the United States, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus.

  • In 1975-1980 - the second, the first secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the BSSR.
  • In 1980-1988 - Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of the BSSR.
  • 1988–1991 - Deputy Head of the International Organizations Department of the BSSR MFA.
  • In 1991-1992 - Deputy Permanent Representative of Belarus to the UN .
  • In 1992-1993 he was temporary charge d'affaires of Belarus in the United States .
  • In 1993–1997, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the United States; from December 3, 1994, he was also Ambassador to Mexico in combination
  • In 1997-2001 - First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus.

By the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus of May 15, 2001 No. 329 S.N. Martynov was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Kingdom of Belgium , Permanent Representative of the Republic of Belarus to the European Communities and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Belarus to the North Atlantic Concurrent Agreement , post until March 21, 2003. On August 3, 2001, he handed over copies of credentials to the head of the European Commission protocol, J. de Baenst. The chief of the protocol noted that from this moment S.N. Martynov could perform his functions in full, including organizing working meetings in the structures of the European Union.

On September 5, 2001, presented his credentials to NATO Secretary General, Lord George Robertson .

On September 25, 2001, presented his credentials to the Belgian King Albert II .

On September 27, 2001, presented his credentials to the current President of the Council of the European Union, Ms. Annemi Neits.

March 21, 2003: appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus.

On August 20, 2012, he was relieved of his post [1] .

He is married and has two sons.

Awards

  • Order of the Fatherland III degree (August 20, 2012) - for many years of work in the field of foreign policy, fruitful work on the development of international relations, strengthening the authority of the Republic of Belarus in the international arena [2] .
  • The Order of Honor (March 1, 2006) - for high achievements in the production and socio-cultural spheres, a significant personal contribution to the fulfillment of the planned indicators of the socio-economic development of the republic in 2001–2005 [3] .
