Jacques Songo'o began his career at the Canon Yaounde club, playing for the youth squad. But he did not become a base player and was sold to the French Toulon . He played for this team from 1989 to 1992. Then he moved to Le Mans on loan, having played there for one year. In 1993 he became a Metz player. For three years he played 101 matches. In the 1995/96 season, he won the French League Cup . In 1996, he left for Spain and began playing for Deportivo . With the club, he won the Spanish Championship in the 1999/00 season and the Super Bowl in 2000. In 1997, he became the owner of the Ricardo Zamora trophy , which is awarded to the goalkeeper who has conceded the least goals in the Spanish Championship for the season. After Deportivo in 2001, he returned to the Mets. In 2003 he returned to Spain, where he completed his career at 40.
