Geography
According to the US Census Bureau , the total area of the town is 92 km², of which 90.9 km² is land and 1.1 km² (1.18%) is water.
Population
According to the census in 2000 [2] , 10,476 people lived in the town, there were 4,229 households and 2,901 families. The population density was 115.3 people per km². The number of residential buildings was 4,985 with an average density of 54.9 per km². The division into races was: 98.04% white, 0.18% African American, 0.11% American Indian, 0.85% Asian, 0.01% Oceanian, 0.18% other race, and 0.62% mixed from two or more races. 0.51% of the population are Latino.
Out of 4,229 households, 33.2% had children under the age of 18, 56.9% were married and lived together, 9.1% had a woman without a husband as the head of the household, and 31.4% were not related. 26.7% of households consisted of one person and 13.8% consisted of one person aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.44 people; the average family size was 2.97 people.
The construction by age was: 25.6% under the age of 18 years, 4.2% from 18 to 24 years old, 27.3% from 25 to 44 years old, 25.8% from 45 to 64, 17.2% 65 years or older . The average age was 41 years. For every 100 females there are 87.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 82.1 males.
The average household income was $ 50,914 per year, the average household income was $ 59,712. Men had an average income of $ 42,417, women $ 25,788. The average annual per capita income of the city was $ 26,181. About 2.9% of families and 4.2 % of the population were below the poverty line , of which 3.3% were under the age of 18 years and 3.5% were 65 years of age or older.
