History
In the Ministry of Housing Management, geography was taught from the very first years.
By 1917, many female students began to study the cycle of geographic and geological sciences, which prompted the council of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics to speak out for the advisability of opening a special geographical department.
Biological and geographical department was opened at the pedagogical faculty of the 2nd Moscow State University in October 1921.
Since 1930, after the transformation of the 2nd Moscow State University into the Moscow State Pedagogical Institute, a geographical department began to operate, and with the transition to the faculty system in 1934, a geographical faculty was formed, the first dean of which was Professor R.
