History

Built in 1717 on the site of the eponymous wooden church, the exact date of construction of which is unknown. The wooden church until 1612 was the cathedral church of the monastery in honor of the Holy Trinity on the Kaisarov stream . In the 17th century salary church books (starting from 1618), the wooden Trinity Church near Kaysarov Stream is listed as a parish. It contained cancer with the relics of the Monk Gerasim of Vologda , the legendary founder of Vologda .

By the beginning of the 18th century, the wooden church was dilapidated, and parishioners turned to Bishop Vologda and Belozersky with a request to build a stone church. The “Temple Charter for the construction of a stone Troitskaya in Vologda, at Kaysarov’s brook, church” has been preserved.

The stone church had three thrones: in the eastern branch - in the name of the Holy Trinity ; in the western branch - in the name of St. John the Gracious and in the name of all Vologda wonderworkers . In the 60-70s of the XVIII century, the bell tower was added to the temple, and the domes of the church and its extensions were greatly rebuilt.

Closed in 1930. Demolished according to some sources in the 1940s, according to others - in the mid-1950s. In 2008, a memorial cross was erected on the site of the demolished temple. At the same time, it was announced that a chapel was planned in this place in honor of St. Gerasimus. In September 2011, the construction of a stone chapel began.

The icon of the Holy Trinity, painted by the Vologda isograph , served as a temple image of the church. In the 19th century, the Monk Dionisy Glushitsky was considered its author [1] .

There was another icon in the church of the temple feast of the Trinity ( Pentecost ), while in addition to the traditional scene of the Descent of the Holy Spirit, this image had a rare feature - the image of the peoples in whose languages the apostles were able to preach.
