Sanjugo Naoki Prize

Sanjugo Naoki Prize ( 直 木 三 十五 賞 Naoki Sanju Prize: go sho:) is a literary prize in Japan awarded to authors of mass literature (except for detective stories and science fiction ). It was established in 1935 by the Bungei Shunju Publishing House "In memory of the writer Sanjugo Naoki, who died a year before this, in along with the Akutagawa Prize created for Junbungaku works. Initiated the creation of both Kang Kikuchi awards. Initially, like the Akutagawa Prize, the Naoki Prize was focused on debutants, but over time, it began to be awarded to more well-known authors. Awarded twice a year. The winning entry is published in the journal Literature for All (オ ー ル 讀物). The author receives one million yen and memorable hours. In the first post-war years (starting from 1945 ), it temporarily ceased to exist, and was resumed in 1949 . Composition of the jury (for 2009 ): Jiro Asada , Takashi Atoda , Hiroyuki Itsuki , Hisashi Inoue , Kenzo Kitakata , Mariko Hayashi , Yumie Hiraiva , Masamitsu Miyagitani , Miyuki Miyabe , Junichi Watanabe . Among the winners are Masuji Ibuse ( 1937 ), Retaro Shiba ( 1959 ), Sotaro Ikenami ( 1960 ), Tsutomu Mizuki ( 1961 ), Areno Inoue ( 2008 ), as well as Hisashi Inoue ( 1971 ) and other current members of the award jury.
