Bayo, Alberto

Alberto Bayo Hirod ( Spanish: Alberto Bayo Giroud , 1892 , Camaguey - 1967 , Havana ) - Spanish revolutionary and poet of Cuban descent. In the 1920s, he served in the Spanish Air Force and participated in the Reef War in Morocco . Member of the Balearic operation during the Spanish Civil War . After the defeat of the republican forces in the war - in exile in Mexico , where he taught at the Air Force School and sold furniture. He participated in organizing the unsuccessful operation of the Caribbean Legion to overthrow the dictatorial regime of Trujillo in 1949. ^[1] Based on his combat experience, he created the theory of guerrilla warfare tactics, including actions that allow the partisan detachment to leave the encirclement. ^[2] He became the instructor of the squad Fidel Castro and Che Guevara . ^[3] After the revolution, he returned to his native Cuba, where he received the rank of general. He died in Havana in 1967.
