Duma ( arab. دوما ) is a city in Syria , in the governorate of Damascus . The administrative center of the county Duma. The population according to 2004 is 110,893 people [1] .

Located about 10 km north-east of Damascus, at an altitude of 660 m above sea level [2] .
Duma is a very conservative Muslim city. Sources mention the existence of a city from Aramaic times. In the Duma there are more than 80 mosques, many of which are historical monuments. Duma - agro-industrial city. The city has a number of small industrial enterprises, handicrafts are developed. Fruit trees are grown in the area, especially local grapes .
History
On April 7, 2018, the use of chemical weapons during the civil war in Syria may have taken place in the vicinity of the city.
