Sary-Chelek [2] [3] ( Kyrgyz. Sarychelek [1] - the "yellow bowl") is a freshwater dammed lake in Kyrgyzstan . It is located on the territory of the Sary-Chelek State Biosphere Reserve [1] , near the junction of the Chatkal and At-Oinok ranges, in the Western Tien Shan [4] [5] . Refers to the basin of the Kara-Suu river, the right tributary of Naryn . It is one of the largest lakes in Kyrgyzstan [1] .

Description
Length - 7.5 km, average width - 0.65 km (maximum 2.28 km). The volume of water is 0.483 kmΒ³. The surface area is 4.92 kmΒ² [1] . Altitude - 1878 [1] (1873.9 [2] ) m.
A reservoir formed about 10 thousand years ago as a result of a mountain collapse [1] .
The water level fluctuates; the highest value is reached in May, the smallest - in December. Freeze-up at the end of December, ice drift in April. The water temperature in summertime (August) is +19.8 Β° C , and in wintertime it ranges from +4 Β° C to 0 Β° C [1] .
The shore is complex, steep and rugged [2] . The southern coast is covered with walnut-fruit forests of natural origin.
One liter of water contains 200-500 mg of mineral salts [1] . The composition of water includes anions: CO 3 , SO 4 and cations: Ca, Mg.
