History

The appearance of the street dates back to the beginning of the XIX century . It passed from Sumy along the Mironositsky cemetery and was originally called Starokladbishchensky lane. For more than 160 years of its existence, the street changed its name about 20 times. Among the names of the street are Sadovaya, Sadovo-Kulikovskaya, Lane of Consciousness, Lane of Equality and the Brotherhood, Kasperovsky Lane. Serdyukovskaya street. From 1896 to the 20-30 years of the XX century it was called Mironositsky Lane. In the 1930s, it received the name Sovnarkomovskaya.

In 1897 - 1900, a building was constructed on the project of architect Beketov on Mironositsky Lane (the House of Scientists is now located in this building).

In 1922 - 1928, the Council of People's Commissars of the Ukrainian SSR worked in the building of the current Art Museum (also constructed according to the project of A. N. Beketov), ​​in honor of which the street was called Sovnarkomovskaya [1] .

In 1936 - 1941, on the Council of People's Commissars, in the house number 6/8 lived the poet A. I. Vvedensky .

In the postwar years, the Kharkov Art Museum began to work on the street.

Notable Buildings

  • House number 9 - built according to the project of architect A.N. Beketov, now it houses the exhibition hall of the Kharkov Art Museum. Initially, it was a Sunday school building organized by H. D. Alchevskaya .
  • House number 10 - built in 1897 - 1900 by the wife of A.N. Beketov, Anna Alekseevna. It was the Beketovs estate. On the second floor of the building on the west side was a portico with caryatids , removed during the reconstruction of the building in the 1920s. Now it is the Kharkov House of Scientists .
  • House No. 11 - built according to the project of architect A.N. Beketov, now it houses the Kharkov Art Museum.
  • House number 13 - built in 1891 - 1893 by A. N. Beketov. Former mansion of A.K. Alchevsky . In 1899, Alchevsky paid for the construction of the world's first monument to T. G. Shevchenko (sculptor V. A. Beklemishev ). The monument was located in the garden of the estate. After the sale of the estate, the fate of the monument is unknown. Now the building houses the Police Culture House. In front of the building is a monument to policemen who died in the fight against crime.

  • Monument to lovers . Opened September 1, 2002 . On August 23, 2009 the Architects Square was opened, the monument was in its center. In addition, the monument was surrounded by a fountain.

Transport

Public transport does not pass directly along the street. At the intersection with Pushkinskaya street is the metro station " Architect Beketov ."
