Biography
In early childhood, he played little Felix in the 1940 lyric comedy “ My Love ” [2] .
In 1961 he graduated with honors from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology ( AMF ), completed his thesis under the direction of S. S. Grigoryan, and entered graduate school at the same institute [1] . The student of academician N. N. Moiseev [3] . In 1963 he defended his thesis “Some tasks of the motion of an artificial Earth satellite relative to the center of mass”, in 1969 - the doctoral dissertation “Motion of a solid with cavities containing a viscous liquid” [1] .
In 1964-1968 he worked in the Computing Center of the USSR Academy of Sciences . Since 1968 he has been working at the Institute of Problems of Mechanics of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (later renamed the Institute of Problems of Mechanics of the RAS ) [1] . Member of the CPSU since 1979 .
Elected December 23, 1987 to the corresponding members of the USSR Academy of Sciences in the Department of Problems of Mechanical Engineering , Mechanics and Control Processes. On June 11, 1992 he was elected a full member of the RAS in the same department [1] .
In 2004-2015 - Director of the Institute of Problems of Mechanics of the Russian Academy of Sciences [1] [4] . Editor-in-chief of the journal Applied Mathematics and Mechanics (2007—2019).
The author of 10 monographs and more than 350 scientific papers. Among the students of F. L. Chernousko are more than 30 candidates of sciences, 18 doctors of sciences, 1 corresponding member of the RAS [5] .
Scientific Interests
The main areas of research are control theory , mechanics , applied mathematics and robotics [6] . In the field of control theory, he dealt with optimal control methods, control problems in the conditions of incomplete information, control issues of complex nonlinear dynamic systems; in the field of mechanics - the dynamics of solids with elastic elements and cavities filled with liquid, as well as the dynamics of satellites ; in the field of applied mathematics, by the development of computational methods for optimal control and calculus of variations ; in the field of robotics - dynamics, motion control and optimization of the characteristics of manipulation and mobile robots [5] .
