In accordance with the law of St. Petersburg dated July 25, 2005 No. 411-68 “On the territorial structure of St. Petersburg”, St. Petersburg is divided into territorial units, which include administrative-territorial units and municipalities [1] .

The administrative-territorial structure of the city of St. Petersburg is the territorial division of the city of federal significance of St. Petersburg into administrative-territorial units in order to exercise the powers of the executive bodies of state power of St. Petersburg [1] .

Brief historical background

  • The Admiralteisky District was formed on March 11, 1994 as a result of the unification of the Leninsky and Oktyabrsky Districts. At the same time, to date, Leninsky and Oktyabrsky district courts operate in the district [3] .
  • Vasileostrovsky district was formed in March-May 1917 [4] from the Vasilyevsky police unit [5] .
  • Vyborg district was formed in March-May 1917 [4] from the Vyborg police station.

  • Kronstadt was founded by Peter I on October 7 (18), 1723 .

XVIII - early XX centuries.

  • On March 24, 1917, by decision of the City Duma, instead of urban and suburban areas, 15 districts were formed: Admiralteisky , Vasileostrovsky , Vyborgsky , 1 Gorodskaya, 2 Gorodskaya, Narva, Nevsky , Novoderevensky, Obukhovsky , Okhtensky, Petergofsky , Petrogradsky , Porokhovsky, Rozhdestvensky and Spassky.

  • December 27, 1933 - Smolninsky district was divided into 2 districts: Smolninsky and Central .

  • April 9, 1936 - The Sverdlovsk District was separated from the Vasileostrovsky District, the Krasnogvardeisky District from the Vyborgsky District, the Primorsky District from the Petrogradsky District , and the Leninsky District from the Kirovsky District .   • August 19, 1936 - as a result of the liquidation of the Leningrad Prigorodny district of the city, Kolpino , Detskoe Selo and Peterhof (with Strelna ) were subordinated to the Leningrad Council (but did not enter the territory of the city). Most of the area transferred to the Leningrad region.
