Gary is an urban-type settlement in the Sverdlovsk region of Russia , the administrative center of the Garinsky urban district . The population of 2472 inhabitants (2010). The distance to the nearest railway station Sosva Novaya is 55 km. Previously, there was an extensive network of timber narrow-gauge railways. Fully disassembled. History
According to the decree of the Pelymsk governor Pyotr Nikitin of September 15, 1622, the clerk Putila Stepanov went up Tavda to the Gary tract in order to examine and rewrite the arable land (there was not enough local bread due to the harsh climate and marshy places around Pelym). In 1623, 10 peasants were settled in the Garinsky settlement. The settlement was located on the right bank of the Sosva River, where an extensive hill spread, which was recognized as suitable for arable land. Towards the end of the 18th century, after the suppression of the peasant uprising led by Yemelyan Pugachev , an intensive settlement of the Garinsky settlement began. Attractions
The picturesque Sosva River (Ob basin) is visible from the high White Yar, where archaeologists have found many remains of mammoths. At the entrance to the village from the side of the city of Serov, there is a working ITL of the Stalin era. In the center is the Victory Park, where you can see military equipment from the Great Patriotic War. The stadium is the core of the festivities, where every first Sunday of July, the Garinets celebrate the day of the village, and in the winter - see off the winter. Religion
In 1840, the Prophet Elias Church was built, a wooden, 2-altar. The main temple in the name of the prop. Elijah, chapel in honor of the Protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Closed in the 1930s, demolished in the 1980s. In 1995, in the name of St. Nicholas, Archbishop of Mirliki, the Nikolaev Prayer House was opened. In July 2005, a wooden church was laid in the name of St. Joasaph of Belgorod. According to the data for 2014, the construction of the church building was completed.
