Geography
The distance to the administrative center is 31 km.
The Balashayka River flows through the village.
History
According to some reports, the settlement was founded in 1720-1730 by a detachment of Cossacks [3] .
Other sources indicate the beginning of the history of the village in 1889 , when peasants from the village of Zhemkovka settled in this place [4] .
The status of an urban-type settlement has been since 1989 .
The village itself was formed as a result of the construction of a railway station here as a column for refueling steam locomotives with water. For this, a large plot of land on the border of the Simbirsk and Samara provinces was purchased from the landowner Balashova, the wife of the provincial land surveyor Balashov. The site was in the Simbirsk province. Later this site became subordinate to the Samara province. There is the Old Balashika, which is located here and was founded earlier, presumably as an Old Believer monastery. Now it is part of the village of Balasheyka.
