Name Origin

Probably, this name is associated with Evenki uki - a fence for fishing, blocking water bodies . This method of fishing is quite common among Evenks [2] .

History

The village was located on the Great Siberian Highway. There was a Yamskaya station. Settlement has been going on since at least the 1770s [3] . In 2017, the village celebrated 285 years of antiquity. Tsesarevich Nikolay, aged 23, stayed in Uka on June 26 or 27 (June 13 or 14 cc) in 1891 on a trip from Vladivostok to St. Petersburg, connected with the start of the construction of the Trans-Siberian railway from Vladivostok. During the stop, the spouse of the volost foreman treated the heir with tea. On Uku, in connection with the construction of regular bridges across local rivers, under an agreement with the chief engineer, a resident of the village and local parish foreman Aleksei Alekseevich Fedorov was able to build a stone building with metal curtains to replace the old log shop, part of the old Yamsky station. The store remains the only stone building in the village. [four]
