History
The history of the village of Trunk is connected with the Baikal-Amur Railway . The village was founded at the construction of the Kirenga railway station under construction, of the same name with the navigable river Kirenga . Initially, they planned to increase the population to 20,000 people and get the status of a city.
The first detachment of builders of 26 people arrived by helicopter on May 24, 1974, the main construction landing arrived June 2, 1974. They founded a labor camp near the so-called. Hills of Love on the banks of the Okukikhty River. Later, construction began on the village of Magistralnoy next to the builders' camp. The camp initially consisted of tents, railroad cars and cabins.
In 1977, in August, the Kirenga station took the first train.
Like all villages on the BAM , the village of Magistralny had a twin region (or a union republic). In the case of the Magistralny settlement, it was the Rostov region . The design and construction of capital housing and infrastructure was carried out by Rostov specialists.
After the construction of the Baikal-Amur Railway was completed, the decline of the village began. The population in the early 1980s was about 12 thousand people, in 1989 - 10 thousand, by the end of 2009 was less than 8 thousand.

Notes
After the completion of the BAM Lena-Kunerma section, the historical documentary film "Fast to Kunerma" Youtube part 1 ; Youtube Part 2 ; For some reason, the filmmakers did not mention either the Kirenga station or the Magistralnoye village, having traveled with the first train on the Lena-Kunerma route, although the Magistralnoye settlement (Kirenga station) is halfway along the indicated section of the road. The only mention was a demonstration on the map of the Lena-Kunerm site with the designation of the Kirenga station, but even that was written with an error: the correct one should be Kirenga, and not Kirenta, as in the film.
