Channel History

Broadcasting of the VH1 Russia channel began on December 1, 2005 with a clip for the song “ Blood type ” of the “ Kino ” group. On June 4, 2007, simultaneously with MTV Russia , the TV channel became a part of the Prof-Media holding [1] .

Since March 18, 2010, in order to popularize Japanese rock music , the channel was one of the first in Russia to start showing clips of popular Japanese rock groups [2] (following the example of the parent channel).

It was originally planned to close the channel on April 1, 2010 [3] . But later the date was postponed to the summer [4] . The decision to close was also due to the fact that the original channel will continue broadcasting in Russia, and it continues to be popular among the population [4] .

He stopped broadcasting on the night of May 31 to June 1, 2010, at exactly midnight Moscow time, with the “ Resistance ” clip of the Muse band. This information was officially confirmed by the press service of MTV Russia [5] . From this point on, Russian pay-TV operators can once again show the European version of the channel.
