Provinces of vietnam

The provinces of Vietnam ( Vietnamese. Tỉnh Việt Nam ) are administrative units of the first level of Vietnam , according to the three-level principle of administrative division of Vietnam under the 1992 Constitution of Vietnam. In total, there are currently 58 provinces in Vietnam .

In addition to the provinces, the first level of administrative division of Vietnam includes 5 major cities of central subordination ( Vietnamese. Thành phố trực thuộc Trung ương ), which have the same status as the provinces.

Authorities

In each province, a popular council is elected by residents ( Vietnamese. Hội Đồng Nhân Dân ), the number of members of which depends on the number of inhabitants in the region. The Council elects from among its members a people's committee ( Vietnamese. Uỷ Ban Nhân Dân ) consisting of a chairman, deputy and 9-11 members. The People’s Committee is the executive branch of the province and is responsible for formulating and implementing development policies. This management scheme is inherited from the government . The People’s Council is subordinate to the central government [1] .
