The Trial of the Central Committee of the PDU ( Bulgarian. Process at the Central Committee at the PDU ) is a trial of 60 members and staff of the Central Committee of the PDU (legal wing of the CPF ). The defendants were accused of violating the Law on the Protection of the State , that is, participating in the guerrilla movement in the country , organizing and leading the Battle Groups .
On July 23, 1942 , the Sophia Military Court sentenced 12 people to death (6 of them in absentia), 2 people to life imprisonment , and the rest to different terms of imprisonment. The next day, the death sentences were carried out on the shooting range of the School of Reserve Officers in Sofia . Anton Ivanov , Anton Popov , Atanas Romanov , Peter Bogdanov , Nikola Vaptsarov and Georgy Minchev were shot . According to one of the participants of the shooting, before the execution, the convicts sang the poem “Hadji Dimitar” by Botev, which was arranged for the song.
