Content
History
Surb Akob Church was built in 1967 - 1969 . descendants of genocide survivors from Western Armenia ; initial capital for construction in the amount of 400 thousand. francs was provided by the Italian merchant Hakob Topalian ( Hagop Topalian ; 1897-1985). The authors of the project are architects Frederic Gauthier and Eduard Utujyan. The church was consecrated on September 14, 1969 by the Armenian archbishop of Paris Serovpe Manukyan.
Current status
The Church of St. Jacob is operational and is in good condition. It hosts important events in the life of the Armenian community in Switzerland - for example, in 2009 the church became one of the centers of mourning events in memory of the Armenian Genocide , in which prominent Swiss politicians took part [1] .
