Palmarola ( Italian: Palmarola ) is an island in the Tyrrhenian Sea off the west coast of the Apennine Peninsula . Administratively, the island of Palmarola is a commune of Ponza in the Latina province of the Lazio region.

Geography
Palmarola Island
The island is part of the Pontian Islands . Located about 10 km west of the island of Ponza.
The emergence of the island is associated with volcanic activity.
This island is primarily a nature reserve.
History
The islands were abandoned in the Middle Ages due to raids by Saracens and pirates, although Ponza, for example, is mentioned in Bocaccio's “ Decameron ” (sixth story of the second day). In the 18th century, the Kingdom of Naples again colonized the islands.
