History
The church is two-story. Initially, it was traditionally five-headed. After the fire of 1878, its top was rebuilt.
The church had an icon of a local saint: the temple image of St. Alexander Oshevensky.
In the late 1980s, the church was transferred to the Kargopol Historical, Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve.
Architecture and decoration
Built in the style of early provincial classicism, with baroque elements. The main room of the temple is a massive cube ( four ) with three tiers of windows, the top of which are octagonal (as in the Church of St. John the Baptist ). During the reconstruction of the temple after the fire of 1878, the quadrangle was blocked by a huge Byzantine-style dome , the drum of which was cut through 16 windows.
