Highlighted lane

New York Broadway Dedicated Strip

Dedicated lane for public transport (according to the Russian Traffic Rules “Lane for the movement of route vehicles ”) is a lane designed to give priority to public transport in general traffic. The lane can be located anywhere on the road, not only on the curb from the side of the main traffic (on the right with right-hand traffic).

A public transport lane located on the central axis of Roosevelt Street in Taipei , Taiwan . On the oncoming lane, markings in the form of a rhombus are visible.

Designation

  • Either a short word (like "BUS" in English) or the first letters of the word "bus" ("A" in Russian) is applied to the strip.
  • A contour rhombus is applied to a lane for vehicles with an actual capacity of x people.
  • Entrance to the lane (in Russia) is indicated by 5.14 and / or 3.1 (if the oncoming lane [ unknown term ] ), and the beginning of the road with such a lane is a sign of 5.11.
  • On exit from adjacent roads, sign 5.13.1 or 5.13.2 is placed [ unknown term ] .
  • If the lane is tram, then the location of the tracks on the road and the constructive allocation are taken into account.

Views

Soft: taxi, as well as special vehicles, are allowed.

  • Mode band: used only at the indicated time, most often during peak hours. The rest of the time can be used in the usual way. Often indicated by reversing traffic lights. Re-alignment to a given lane is often allowed to turn onto a secondary road.
  • Public transport only: private transport cannot enter under any circumstances (excluding the concept of emergency).
  • “Anti-hair” lane - most often appears on streets not wide enough where heavy tram traffic was common, but the width does not allow full-fledged two-way traffic to be launched. Also used in cases where it is necessary to prevent double-row parking on roads with one-way traffic.
  • Lane for vehicles with actual loading from x people (indicated on the sign). Only cars are allowed on this lane from personal vehicles.
  • Paid lane (public transport rides for free).

Rigid: only designated vehicles (fixed-route or those indicated on the plate under the main sign) are allowed. Special vehicles can only move if there is approval or the light-sound alarm is turned on (colloquially “flashing light”).

  • Bus Departure: A one-lane driveway. It is used when it is impossible to expand the road along the entire length of at least 2 lanes.
  • Bus and tram lane.

Special Views

  • Olympic lane: at the request of the IOC , a special lane must be allocated for vehicles serving athletes. Most often, dedicated lanes for public transport are assigned to this role. Designated by Olympic rings .
  • Reverse traffic lights: in the case of a short section, one of the lanes is switched by the driver (or dispatcher) for a time sufficient to overcome the section. An alarm can also be used to close a certain section of the contact network.
  • In some regions of the United States (in particular, in the state of California ), the right to use the allocated lanes is granted to hybrid cars regardless of their occupancy [1] .

Freewheel

Overtaking lane, or special pocket: an additional lane used only for turning public transport (for example, for turning left on Profsoyuznaya street near the Novye Cheryomushki metro station [2] ).

Allocated Lanes in Kazan

Massively introduced on most streets with a width of at least three lanes in one direction in two ways: in 2008 and 2010 [3] . Motorists have repeatedly tried to challenge their appearance in the courts [4] . Used mainly by bus routes. At the time of the Universiade 2013 and the Aquatics Championship in 2015, the number of roads with dedicated lanes was increased [5] [6] , including roads where there was no public route transport. At the end of these events, “sports” lanes were eliminated.

Dedicated lanes in Moscow were created to combat traffic jams. Their creation was part of the plan “A city convenient for life”, developed by the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, at the end of 2010. [7] [8] Over the past five years, more than 200 kilometers of dedicated lanes for public transport have been created in the city. [9] [10] [11] The total length of the allocated lanes in Moscow by 2015 was 241 km. [12] [13] [14]

Dedicated lanes for public transport allowed increasing the speed of buses, trams and trolleybuses by 15-30%. [15] [16] [17] [18] By the beginning of 2016, it is planned to introduce about 260 km of allocated lanes for public transport. [19] Passenger traffic on dedicated lanes for public transport exceeds 1.5 million people per day. [20] [21]

In 2014, Moscow ground transport carried 30% more passengers than a year earlier. [22] [23] Due to the introduction of dedicated lanes, the number of accidents involving public transport decreased by 28.5%. [24] [25]

In 2015, the Center for Traffic Management (DPC) increased the number of allocated lanes due to re-marking and narrowing of existing lanes. [26] [27] [28] These works are planned to be carried out on Volokolamsk Highway from Academician Kurchatov Street to Infantry Street , as well as on the Leninsky Prospekt section from Vernadsky Prospect to the Moscow Ring Road , Rusakovskaya Street. [29] [30] The possibility of narrowing the lanes on the Warsaw and Kashira highways is being considered . [31] [32]

  •
    Stripes in the center: Maroseyka - Pokrovka - Solyanka (with a section of the left strip on New Square ). The lane in violation of traffic rules is used for overtaking by special vehicles [33] , and on the part of Maroseyka (due to the very narrow sidewalk) and by pedestrians.
  • Taganskaya street : from Abelmanovskaya Zastava to the metro.
  • Old Guy Street [34] : oncoming lane for the metro.
  • Pleshcheeva Street [35] : oncoming lane following the Bibirevo metro station.
  • The anti-wool strip on Osenny Boulevard [36] ( Trolleybus No. 19).
  • Overtaking lanes: pocket for turning small and large-capacity vehicles from the second lane of Profsoyuznaya street to Gazprom (for turning the Accordion is unsuitable ); as well as priority traffic lanes for buses from the Kryukovo station.
  • Experimental dedicated lane on Volokolamsk highway (2.2 km from Tushinskaya metro station to Moscow Ring Road). Officially, the first non-rail. It has been functioning since July 25, 2009 [37] .
  • The dedicated lane on Andropov Avenue on both sides of the Kolomenskaya metro station to the intersection with Kashirskoye Shosse - 2.7 km [38] , effective from January 3, 2011 [39] ;
  • A dedicated lane on Leningradsky Prospekt on both sides of the Belorussky Train Station to the Sokol metro station . It has been functioning since July 9, 2011 [37] . Two sections - 5 km [38] ;
  • The allocated lane on the Shchelkovsky highway from Khabarovskaya to Khalturinskaya street (in both directions) [40] - 6.5 km [38] from July 14, 2011 [41] ;
  • The allocated lane on the Borovsky highway from the Moscow Ring Road to Sholokhov Street [42] - 6 km [38] from August 24, 2011 [43] ;
  • Lipetskaya street - 4.8 km [38] from September 22, 2011 [39] ;
  • Sevastopol Avenue - 10.1 km [38] from October 6, 2011;
  • Pyatnitskoye Shosse - 3.9 km [38] from February 4, 2012 [44] ;
  • Vernadsky Avenue - 0.9 km [38] (near the metro station “ South-West ”);
  • Festivalnaya Street - 1.25 km from the Leningradskoye Shosse to Lavochkina Street , and in the direction of ul. Lavochkina allowed only public transport;
  • Proletarsky Prospekt and Bakinskaya Street since October 29, 2011 (as part of the allocated strip from Kolomenskaya metro station to the Moscow Ring Road with a length of 11.6 km) [39] ;
  • Berezhkovskaya embankment , Vorobyovskoe highway , st. Kosygina (to Michurinsky Prospekt), Michurinsky Prospekt (from Indira Gandhi Square to Ozernaya Street), Ozernaya Street (in the continuation of Michurinsky Prospect - to the Moscow Ring Road) from November 5, 2011 [39] ;
  • Aminievskoe highway (from Kutuzovsky Prospekt ) - st. Lobachevsky - st. Obrucheva - Balaklava Avenue (to the Warsaw highway ), with a length of 15.5 km, since November 12, 2011 [39] ;
  • Yaroslavl highway , Prospekt Mira to the square of Riga Station , has been operating since November 19, 2011 [39] .
  • The Veshnyaki - Lyubertsy highway: no other vehicles are officially prohibited on the bridge over the MKAD, but after the exit from the bridge there is a zone with only public transport.
  • Altufevskoe highway - from Signal Drive to Vologda Drive from November 1, 2012.
  • The strip of hair on Smolny Street from Belomorskaya Street to Festivalnaya Street (1.1 km).

Markings have already been made, but the lanes on the Enthusiasts Highway , Marshal Zhukov Avenue , Profsoyuznaya Street , Lublinskaya Street have not yet been officially put into operation (the planned introduction from 01.11.2012 [45] [46] was canceled [47] [48] ).

Since March 31, 2012, under pressure from motorists (the arguments were the “controversy” of the lane on the part of Andropov Avenue, as well as on Zvenigorod Highway between Mnevniki Street and the Third Transport Ring , the first route No. 850 along which was launched only after the lane was organized [49] [50 ] ] [51] [52] [53] [54] ), the newly entered highlighted bands were transferred to the “only on business days” operating mode (indicated by the corresponding sign).

Highlights in Moscow in the past

  • Dedicated road for public transport: during the repair of the Luzhnetsk metro bridge (the metro worked only until the Sportivnaya station), a canalized movement of ground public transport was organized along Komsomolsky Prospekt and Vernadsky Prospekt from the temporarily closed station. m. "South-West" to the operating stations "Sportivnaya" and "Frunzenskaya". CAC routes used the central lanes of the roadway for traffic. To ensure the operation of high-speed routes, new stops were built, temporary traffic lights, regulation points, the organization of traffic was changed. Also used were the existing landing sites, which were reconstructed. The entry of personal vehicles to Vernadsky Avenue was closed. Special vehicles (ambulance, emergency services, etc.) were allowed without restrictions. To organize the transportation of passengers, three routes were organized - to the northern and southern vestibules of the station. m. "Sportivnaya" and to the station. m. "Frunzenskaya". This was done to distribute passenger flows between various entrances and metro stations. All traffic light cycles were changed taking into account the priority pass CAC. Land transport carried out traffic with an interval of about 20 seconds (total for three routes), the communication speed was about 30-40 km / h, and the traffic reached 10-15 thousand passengers per hour . Due to the fact that the distance of the pedestrian approach from the SAS stops to the entrance to the working metro stations was different (while the distance to the entrances to the Sportivnaya metro station was greater than to the metro station Frunzenskaya), passengers preferred the shortest routes. The consequence of this was an overload of the M3 bus, following to Art. m. "Frunzenskaya". However, it was impossible to increase the frequency of movement on it because of the restriction on the entrance of passengers to the station. After the completion of the repair work, there were many requests from passengers with a request to maintain such a scheme of public transport. A similar solution was applied in the future for all periods of temporary closure of metro sections in Moscow.
  • Dedicated lane along Sretenka and Bolshaya Lubyanka streets: existed until 2003 as an anti-wool lane, allowing direct transfers from the north side of the Garden Ring to Lubyanka Square. At the moment, trolleybuses follow a one-way ring along Myasnitskaya - Sretenka (with the actual “final” Myasnitskaya, 9). At the same time, the lane is occupied by parking and is not used for traffic, the contact network was removed only at the intersection with the Garden Ring, and for the rest of the distance it was saved.

Highlights in St. Petersburg

  • Stripes on Nevsky Prospekt (from Uprising Square to Poltava Street): 600 m.
  • Anti-wool band on Zagorodny Prospekt (from Zvenigorodskaya Street to Vladimirskaya Square): 850 m.
  • Stripes on Gorokhovaya Street (from Malaya Morskaya Street to the Fontanka River Embankment): 1350 m.
  • Anti-wool band on Voznesensky Prospekt (from Sadovaya Street to the Moika Embankment): 950 m.
  • Anti-wool band on Malaya Morskaya Street : 450 m.
  • The first dedicated tram and bus lane in the city: Ligovsky Prospekt (from Kuznechny Lane to Raststannaya Street ): 2200 m. It is a reconstructed tram dedicated lane. It has been operating since 2006. After the reconstruction (in particular, felling of trees), it became possible to move buses along it. At the moment, the lane is a tram and bus. Its main drawback is that the allocated lane ends 400 meters from Vosstaniya Square, which is a large transport hub (two metro stations, Moskovsky Station, a lot of ground public transport routes). Tram lines are turned into Kuznechny Lane, where tram cars are being turned around (until 2007, tram lines reached Vosstaniya Square and 2nd Sovetskaya Street; in 2007, they were dismantled). Also, the lack of lane can be attributed to the inconsistency of movement along it: during rush hours, buses begin to interfere with the movement of trams, in connection with which the average speed on the lane decreases. Its undoubted advantages include the opportunity that appeared for residents of the microdistrict along Ligovsky Prospekt and the Frunzensky District (Kupchino) to get from the center to the sleeping area by tram or bus rather quickly, bypassing traffic jams. It should be specially noted that after the organization of priority traffic for trams and buses along Ligovsky Prospekt, trolleybus traffic was canceled on it (the trolleybus idle in the general traffic flow was recognized as uncompetitive), as well as the movement of fixed-route taxis.
  • Dedicated lanes for trolleybuses and buses on Bolshoi Prospect of the Petrograd Side and Bolshaya Pushkarskaya Street. In practice, they did not work out for long (a few months after the organization in 2007, while traffic police intensively monitored traffic on these highways). They are ordinary woolly stripes, highlighted only by signs and markings. In practice, due to the fact that turns to the right are still carried out by motor vehicles from these lanes, as well as due to the presence of improperly parked cars on them, these lanes are ineffective (however, public transport even in these conditions moves during peak hours "Faster than the rest of the stream).
  • Dedicated lane on Nevsky Prospekt (from the Moika Embankment to Vosstaniya Street): 2300 m. Opened December 20, 2008. Movement is carried out only by low-floor rolling stock of a new sample. Shuttle taxis were prohibited in this lane, which led to the complete cessation of their movement along Nevsky Prospect (alternative shuttle routes were developed for shuttle taxis, but in practice, most carriers either refused to ride on them, or in various ways seeks to disrupt new route routes, imposed by Smolny). Nevertheless, there are known cases of massive violation of the ban on minibuses on Nevsky Prospekt, as well as parking of personal cars on it (the peak of such incidents occurred in the first four months after the opening of the dedicated lane). The band exists in both directions.
  • Highlighted lane on Enlightenment Avenue. It is fully tram. It is noteworthy that in 2007, after repair of tram tracks (performed in violation of technology), the so-called “High-speed” tram traffic (route No. 57 was renumbered as No. 100, since in St. Petersburg tram celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2007). In practice, due to frequent stops, the peak speed of the lane does not exceed 50 km / h, and the new rolling stock ( LM-99 AVN wagons) 1.5 years after the start of route 100, was mostly transferred to other tram parks in exchange for an older one (but more capacious: articulated wagons of the LVS-86 type came onto the line), as a result of which the tram line along Enlightenment Ave. can now be called accelerated only with a big stretch.
