Biography
Bergman received his education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and at the University of California at Los Angeles . His career in show business began in the early 1950s on television, where he was the director of children's television shows.
In 1958, he married Marilyn Bergman, who was also born and raised in Brooklyn , but their meeting took place only in Los Angeles . Together they wrote music and words for many famous films, musicals and television projects. The couple was nominated 14 times for the Academy Award for Best Original Song, and in 1983 received three nominations at once from the four available. They have received Academy awards twice. For the first time in 1968 for the song “ The Windmills of Your Mind ” , played in the film “ Thomas Crown Scam ”, and then in 1973 for “ The Way We Were ” from the picture “ Meeting of Two Hearts ”.
In 1980, Alan and Marilyn were included in the Hall of Fame of songwriters , and in 1995 received a doctorate from the Berkeley College of Music . Alan Bergman is a member of the board of The Streisand Foundation, founded by the Barbra Streisand .
In 2007, Bergman released his first vocal album, entitled "Lyrically, Alan Bergman", which contains his most famous songs.
