Biography

As a player, he became the champion of all three countries in which he played - Brazil, Portugal and France. He was part of the legendary Fluminense team of the 1980s, which won the 1984 Brazilian championship - the title, which is still the only one for the “tricolor carioca”.

With the Portuguese " Benfica " Gomez twice won the national championship and reached the European Cup final . Then came the transition to Paris Saint-Germain , where Gomez became part of another legendary team that was at the forefront of European football in the mid-1990s. With the Paris club, Gomez won the 1993/94 French Championship and the 1995/96 Cup , and then ended his playing career.

As a member of the Brazilian national team, he won the silver medal at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, also participated in the 1990 World Cup and won the 1989 America’s Cup .

Coaching career began in PSG. From the coaching achievements it is necessary to note the successful results in the cup tournaments - in France he won 3 trophies with his teams, and in Brazil he won the Northeast 1999 Cup with Vitoria . In 2002–2004, Ricardo Gomez led the Brazilian Olympic team, from which he reached the CONCACAF Golden Cup final, where Brazil was invited as a guest.

In 2010, after the defeat of the “ São Paulo ” headed by him from “ Palmeiras ” with a score of 0: 2, Gomez got a micro- stroke and was hospitalized [1] . In 2011, he headed Vasco da Gama , after which he remained without work for a long time. On July 22, 2015, he headed “ Botafogo ” [2] , with which he won the Brazilian Serie B.
