Oscar Morgenstern ( German: Oskar Morgenstern ; January 24, 1902 , Goerlitz, Germany - July 26, 1977 , Princeton ) is an American economist of German descent, one of the creators of game theory .

Biography

He studied at the University of Vienna. Doctor of the University of Vienna (1925). In 1928-1938, a professor at the University of Vienna. Director of the Austrian Institute for the Study of Business Cycles (1931-1938). In 1938, during the Anschluss of Austria, he was at Princeton University and decided to stay in the United States. He taught at Princeton University until 1970.

He was a member of the Vienna Circle . A close friend of Kurt Godel . U.S. citizen since 1944. He was married to Dorothy Young (1946).
