"Jean de Lanson" ( fr. Jehan de Lanson ) - French poem of the XIII century . It was written before 1239 . Her hero is Duke Jean de Lanson, Ganelon's nephew. The conflict is translated into a deliberately comic plan, and the poem is on the verge of a parody. It is written in twelve-complex rhyming verse (in some manuscripts rhymes alternate with assonances ).

Charlemagne gives the duke as a fief of the land in southern Italy. But he first turns to paganism, and then, together with Ganelon and Alori, builds a conspiracy against the emperor. Twelve peers , led by Roland , go to Jean de Lanson to calm him down. Although Roland manages to kill the duke's father, Nivard, they fail, and Alori almost captures them, but they are saved by the wizard Basin de Gennes . But the duke has his own wizard - Malaquin. He enters a competition with Bazin, whom Roland is trying to help. Franks send for help to Carl. He arrives in Calabria with a large army. After a long battle, the imperial army wins, and Jean de Lanson loses his possessions.
Recycling
The poem was reworked by the 14th century Liege poet Jean d'Utremez , incorporating it into the mythical story of his native city, “Liege gesture”.
