The Elusive (Destroyer)

The elusive destroyer Squadron is the third ship of the Project 56-M , also known as the Bedov type ( NATO code - Kildin), built for the Soviet Navy in the 1950s . Subsequently, it was modernized according to the project 56-U.

History

April 29, 1954 EM "Elusive" was added to the list of ships of the Navy , and February 23, 1957 , under serial number 743, was laid down at the Leningrad plant them. Zhdanova on the project 56. There he was completed on the project 56-M (serial number 765) [1] and launched on February 27, 1958 . In the same year, December 30 , the "Elusive" came into operation.

March 8, 1960 he was included in the Red Banner Baltic Fleet (KBF) .

On May 19, 1966 EM “Elusive” was reclassified to the Big Rocket Ship (DBK), on January 26, 1973 - to the Big Anti-Submarine Ship (BOD), and on August 3, 1977 it was returned to the DBK class.

In 1969, DBK "The Elusive" carried out a mission to the coast of Africa , where in February he paid a visit to Conakry ( Guinea ), and in March to Lagos ( Nigeria ). After returning, on April 7, 1969, the “Elusive” was assigned to the Red Banner Black Sea Fleet (KChF) [2] .

In the period from December 2, 1971 to October 4, 1972, it was modernized at Sevmorzavod ( Sevastopol ) under the project 56-U.

On June 6, 1974, the “Elusive” was withdrawn from service, mothballed and put up in Sevastopol, but eight years later, on March 18, 1982 , it was mothballed and re-commissioned [3] .

May 15 - June 13, 1984 took part in the exercises "Ocean-84", held in the Mediterranean Sea (the theme of the exercises: "The defeat of the enemy AMG OS RUS in collaboration with the MRA Air Force Black Sea Fleet"). The exercises were also attended by the Zhdanov switchgear , the Komsomolets of Ukraine, the restrained, the slender, the daring, the destroyers the “resourceful”, the “conscious”, the DBK “the bad ”, the special -purpose missile system the strong, the friendly ”,“ Wolf ”, small missile ships (RTOs)“ Zarnitsa ”, submarine K-298, reconnaissance ship“ Kildin ”, tanker“ Desna ”, etc.

On April 19, 1990, the Elusive was disarmed and expelled from the Navy in connection with the transfer to the OFI for dismantling and implementation. February 11, 1991 disbanded and subsequently sold to a private Italian company for cutting metal [4] .

Armament

According to the project 56-M, on the "Elusive" were:

  • SM-59 launcher, for launching 8 missiles KSSh (Ship projectile "Pike"), with a control system SU "Cypress-56M";
  • Four four-barrel 57-mm machine gun ZIF-75;
  • Two double-tube 533 mm torpedo tubes (TA);
  • Two RBU-2500 rocket-propelled bombs (under the RSL-25 projectile; 128 pcs.).

After modernization under project 56-U, the KSSh system, which was recognized as obsolete, was replaced by two automatic 76-mm AK-276 systems and four anti-ship missile systems (SCRC) for the P-15M Termite ( NATO code - SS-N-2 Styx )
