Open Book is a Soviet nine-episode feature television color film shot at the Lenfilm film studio in 1977 by director Viktor Titov based on the novel of the same name by Veniamin Kaverin .

Content
Story
The heroine of the film is a microbiologist , who received the first samples of penicillin in the USSR and participated in organizing the process of its industrial production. The discovery of a new potent drug was preceded by many years of scientific research. They began at the beginning of the century in the small provincial town of Lopakhin, in the laboratory of the old doctor Lebedev, whom the neighbor girl Tanya Vlasenkova accidentally met, who first learned in the researcher’s house about the mysterious world of science.
The prototype of Tatyana Vlasenkova was the microbiologist Zinaida Ermolyeva [1] .
