As part of the army from 06/22/1941 to 03/12/1943 .

On 06.23.1941 was part of the 6th Rifle Corps , was located in the Rava-Russian fortified area, led the battles in its composition during June-July 1941 , in August became part of the newly formed 6th army of the 2nd formation . Participates in the defense of Donbass in 1941 and in 1942. In the summer of 1942, he retired to Stalingrad , apparently occupying positions north-west of Stalingrad. Covers the advancing Soviet troops during the operation to encircle the enemy forces at Stalingrad. Apparently during this period for some time was part of the 18th anti-aircraft artillery division .

03/12/1943 (at that time, being in the status of the anti-aircraft division of the Reserve of the Main Command) was transformed into the 13th separate Guards anti-aircraft artillery division.
