The 18th Azerbaijan National Football Championship was held in 2009 - 2010 with the participation of 12 clubs. The champion for the second time was Baku Inter .

The first game was held on August 14 at the Salyan Olympic complex, where the local Mugan club defeated the Sumgayit Standard with a score of 1-0.

As in previous seasons, the clubs that took the last (11th and 12th) places according to the results of the championship left the Premier League and moved to the First Division .
