History
The surrounding settlements: Stary and Novy Bykov, Cossack, Red, Seredovka, Zgurovka, like all left-bank settlements between Desna and Supoy, had their own history and during the liberation struggle led by Bogdan Khmelnitsky first belonged to Bykovskaya, and then to Basanskaya hundred Pereyaslavsky regiment. Sichiviks, who moved to Petrovka in 1775–76, built it with equal slats (streets). The villagers still call them consonantly - flame. Petrovka belonged to the Basan hundreds. At the end of 1781, the Little Russian Governor-General abolished Cossack self-government. Territorial Cossack regiments were replaced by cavalry and hussar. Petrovsky Cossacks served in the hussar regiments. They were recruited for a six-year service. Tsarist authorities generously endowed their subjects with land. Peter's farms grew to the lands of Seredovka and Nikolaevka.
