Biography
Born on January 24, 1921 in Baku, in a working class family. After finishing secondary education, in 1936 he entered the Azerbaijan State Art College named after Azim Azimzade , which he graduated in 1941 . Back in 1940 , he was appointed there as a teacher in special subjects up to mobilization in the ranks of the Red Army in 1942 . From 1942 to 1945 he participated in the battles against Nazi invaders in the Great Patriotic War , having gone from the defense of the Caucasus to the capture of Berlin . After the war, in 1946 he was admitted to the Union of Artists of the USSR . In the same year he entered the Moscow State Academic Art Institute named after V.I. Surikov at the faculty of easel painting . He studied under D. Machalsky and G. Ryazhsky. In 1949 he was admitted to the Moscow Union of Artists , and in 1950 became a participant in All-Union exhibitions. After graduation, he returned to Azerbaijan , starting his career, combining with teaching and social activities. For about forty years he taught at the Azim Azimzade Art School, and from 1965 to 1975 he worked as the director of this educational institution. From the I Congress of the Union of Artists of the USSR, the V Congress was elected to the Central Revolutionary Commission of the Union of Artists of the USSR. He was elected a deputy of the Baksovet, chairman of the Veterans Commission of the Great Patriotic War, deputy chairman of the art council for the painting section. Eyub Mammadov died on August 27, 1994 in Baku, at the age of 73 years.
