Hyaulparfoss ( Isl. Hjálparfoss ) is one of several waterfalls in the south of Iceland ( Südürland ), located in the lava fields north of the Hekla stratovolcano , in the place where the Fossau ( Isl. Fossá ) and Thiourssau rivers merge . The waterfall is located 30 km east of the village of Floodir . You can get to the waterfall along the gravel path from , which passes through the Vikkar lava fields ( vik . Vikrar ). 5 km south is another waterfall, Thouwafoss . Further to the east is the Hauifoss waterfall on the Fossau River, and the Tangafoss waterfall ( Isl. Tangafoss ) on the Thorsau River.

The name of the waterfall, literally translated as “relief waterfall”, comes from the name of the area Hyaulp ( Isl. Hjálp ). The area got its name due to the fact that here travelers found food and forage for horses after a difficult and dangerous transition along the route of Sprengisandur .
