Biography
Gabran was the second son of King Dal Riad Domangart I and succeeded his older brother Komgall . During his reign, a long Scottish war broke out with the Picts , whose territories lay east of the lands of Dal Riad. In 558 (according to other sources - in 560 ), Gabran died in the war with the King of the Picts Brude I.
From Gabran, the clan n'Gabran ( Gelsk. N'Gabrain ), one of the three territorial-tribal unions that made up the socio-political structure of the kingdom of Dal Riad, has its pedigree. The possessions of this kind were located in Kintyre and on the island of Islay, and until the middle of the 7th century its representatives were the supreme kings of Dal Riad.
Gabran was succeeded by his nephew Conall I.
