Career

Club

Zinho began his career at Flamengo club, making his debut in the first team on March 9, 1986 in a match with the Mesquita club, which ended with the victory of Fla with a score of 3: 1, and in his fourth match with the Portuguesa Desportos club 18 May, he opened his scoring score, scoring one of his team's 5 unanswered goals. In the same year, Zinho won his first title - the Rio State Championship , and a year later he won the Brazilian Championship with the team, but that year ended with a massive departure of the leading players from the club, as a result, by 1988, Zinho, along with Bebeto , remained , practically, the only champion of Brazil in 1987. Only two years later, the team began to gain momentum, winning the state championship, the Brazilian championship and the Brazilian cup .

In 1993, Zinyo left Flamengo and moved to Palmeiras , which brought together very strong players, such as Edmundo , Edilson , Roberto Carlos, and the new coach of the team, Wanderlle Luchemburgo . And in the very first year the team won the championship of Sao Paulo , Brazil and won the Rio Sao Paulo tournament , and a year later it won a success, the national championship and the Rio Sao Paulo tournament. But with the departure of Luchemburgo, the team began to "crumble", leading players began to leave it, including Zinho, who left after the World Cup in Japan.

In the Japanese club " Yokohama Flugels " Zino played 3 seasons. Where he was one of the best legionnaires of the J-League , having played 110 games in the club and scored 32 goals in them. Zinho returned to Brazil in 1997, re-joining Palmeiras. With Verdao, Zinho won the Brazilian Cup, and a year later celebrated his victory in the Libertadores Cup . After that, Zinho moved to Gremio , where he won the state championship again, and also for the third time in his career raised the Brazilian cup. Then for the third time he moved to Palmeiras, having spent 24 matches. In total, for the "Verdao" Zinho spent 333 games (184 wins, 74 draws and 75 defeats), scoring 56 goals [2] .

In 2003, Zinho moved to Cruzeiro and won the Brazilian championship with this club. A year later, at the age of 36, he moved to his native Flamengo, but spent only one and a half seasons on the team, not always even joining the team. Total for Flamengo spent 466 matches and scored 65 goals [3] . Zinho finished the half of the season at Nova Iguaçu and left for the USA.

In the United States, Zinho acted as a playing coach at the Miami club, and in 2008, completing his career, he headed the club.

Brazil national team

In the Brazilian national team, Zinho made his debut on March 15, 1989 in a friendly game with Ecuador . He was a participant in two American cups and one World Cup, where the footballer was one of the "creators" of victory, having spent all seven matches in the tournament [4] . In the national team at the Zinho world championship, he served as a defensive midfielder, on the instructions of the coach not going to attack, where Zinho did in all his teams. The last match for the national team Zinho held February 15, 1998 with Jamaica . In total, he played 57 matches for the national team and scored 7 goals in them.

Coaching

August 16, 2015 entered the coaching staff " Vasco da Gama " under the leadership of Zhorginho [5] . With his participation, Vascão left Serie A (18th place in the 2015 season ), won the 2016 Rio de Janeiro State Championship and returned to Serie A (3rd place in the 2016 season ).
