Harry Sparnay or Sparnay ( Dutch: Harry Sparnaay ; 1944 - 2017 ) - Dutch bass clarinet player , according to some critics, the world's best performer on this instrument [1] [2] .

Content
Biography
He graduated from the Amsterdam Conservatory , class Ru Otto, in the clarinet class. In 1972 he was awarded the first prize at the Gaudeamus International Competition of Performers . He performed in various chamber ensembles, including a duet with his wife, organist Sylvia Costello, in a team of nine bass clarinets, which he directed. He also headed the New Music Ensemble of the Amsterdam Conservatory, where he taught.
Repertoire
The main specialization of the Pair is the latest music. More than 500 works have been written for him, including such composers as Luciano Berio , Morton Feldman , Brian Ferneyhou , Janis Xenakis , Isan Youn , Karel Guiwarts , Vaclav Kuchera , Mark Kopytman , Michelle van der Aa , Helmut Lachenman , Anestis Logotetis , Arne Mellnes , Ivan Fedele , Michael Finnissi .
