Wholesale Generation Company No. 3 ( OGK-3 ) is a Russian energy company created as a result of the reform of RAO UES of Russia . Full name - Open Joint-Stock Company “Third Generating Company of the Wholesale Electricity Market” . Headquarters - in Moscow . It was abolished in 2012 due to the merger with Inter RAO UES .

History

Founded in 2004 .

In autumn 2008, OGK-3, using the funds of the investment program, acquired 25% minus 1 share of RUSIA Petroleum (owns a license for the Kovykta gas condensate field ) from Interros holding for $ 576 million, as well as a 35% stake in the American company Plug Power (engaged in hydrogen energy ) for about $ 33 million. In the spring of 2009, the Russian Audit Chamber, after checking the company, recognized these purchases as inappropriate use of investment funds, and indicated that in two years OGK-3 allocated only 8 billion rubles for capital construction, and mastered only 2 billion rubles from them. Activities

The company included six large federal power plants - Kostroma State District Power Plant (installed capacity - 3600 MW), Pechora State District Power Station (1060 MW), Cherepetsk State District Power Station (1425 MW), Gusinoozyorsk State District Power Station (1100 MW), Yuzhnouralskaya State District Power Station (882 MW), Kharanorsk State District Power Station 655 MW). The total installed capacity of OGK-3 is 8497 MW (more than 5% of all generating capacities of RAO UES), in 2009 the annual electricity generation amounted to 29.3 billion kWh . [6] The total installed heat capacity is 1615 Gcal / h.

In 2008, Coal Mining LLC was established to develop the remaining reserves section of the Okino-Klyuchevskoye field. The Okino-Klyuchevskoye field is located in the Bichursky district of the Republic of Buryatia. OJSC “OGK-3” in March 2008 and received a license to use the subsoil of this section for a period of 20 years. [7]

Promising Projects

In accordance with the investment program agreed with RAO UES, OGK-3 plans to: [9]

  • put into operation the power unit at the Kharanorskaya GRES with a minimum capacity of 213.75 MW by December 31, 2011. Work will be carried out by CJSC Energoproekt [10]
  • to introduce 2 power units at the Cherepetskaya TPP with a minimum capacity of 213.75 MW each until December 31, 2011 and December 31, 2012, respectively. To do this, on October 13, 2008, a meeting was held with the administration of the Tula region , where OGK-3 confirmed the terms of the project until 2013 and announced the volume of necessary investments: more than 25 billion rubles.
