History
Background
The prehistory of Almere City begins in 1954 , after the founding of the BVK Amsterdam football club in Amsterdam ( naderl . Beroeps Voetbal Club Amsterdam ); the team had the nickname "black sheep" ( niderl. De Zwarte Schapen ) [1] . After the team was sold by businessman Dingeman Stop , in 1958 it merged with the club of the internal combustion engine and soon became known as DVSA ( niderl. Door Wilskracht Sterk Amsterdam ); since 1962, the team was again called ICE.
On October 20, 1959, fans of the “old” BVK decided to establish their own club, which eventually became known as “De Zvarte Schapen” ( niderl. De Zwarte Schapen ). In the summer of 1978 , after merging with the Argonaut team ( niderl. AVV Argonaut ), the club became known as Argonaut-Zvarte Schapen ( n. Argonaut-Zwarte Schapen ) or the abbreviated gas station ( neutral AZS ); the team held matches in Amsterdam. From 1988 to 1992, the club had the name FC De Sloterplas ( niderl. FC De Sloterplas ).
Omniworld
Almere City
In March 2011, the club changed its name to AFK Almere City [2] , but a few weeks later the club became known as Almere City FC. In their first game in the 2010/11 season, held on August 20, the Almere players lost to Sparta's Rotterdam with a score of 12: 1, thereby breaking the Ajax record for performance in one match [3] [4] .
