Biography
Dietrich began his football career at the age of 19, playing in the regional teams Neu-Isenburg and Ingolstadt [1] . In 1966, he was invited to the Rot-Weiss Essen club, which had just left for the Bundesliga, with which Dietrich concluded his first professional contract. Although after the first season his club left the league, Peter himself continued his career at the Borussia club from Monchengladbach . Dietrich immediately became one of the key players in the team of Hennes Weisweiler , playing almost always when he was healthy. He twice became the champion of Germany with Borussia: in 1970 and 1971. For “Borussia” in the Bundesliga, Dietrich played 103 matches and scored 14 goals [2] .
In 1971, after the second consecutive victory in the German championship, Dietrich for 250 thousand marks moved to the Bremen Werder Bremen . There he was chased one after another by injuries, because of which he did not reach the previous level, having played only 82 matches in five years, in which he scored 7 goals. In 1976, Dietrich completed his professional career, playing in an amateur team from Frankfurt am Main [2] .
On May 9, 1970, Dietrich made his debut in the national team of Germany , taking part in a friendly match with the national team of Ireland . This match remained the only one for him in the team [3] . In the same year, he was included in the application of the German team for the World Cup in Mexico, where Germany took third place. At the tournament, he remained in reserve all the time and did not play in any of the matches.
After the completion of his playing career, Dietrich settled in Bavaria , together with his wife Ingrid, he opened a sports shop in the commune of Oberaudorf [2] .
