The swimming pool of the Foro Italico sports complex, in which the Championship swimming competitions were held.

The 2009 World Aquatics Championship was held from July 17 to August 2 in Rome ( Italy ). Venue - Foro Italico .

Summary

The capital of the championship was announced on July 16, 2005 after a meeting of the FINA Bureau in Montreal , other candidates were Athens , Moscow , Dubai , and Yokohama [1] . On the emblem of the championship is a stylized image of five waves symbolizing the five water sports represented at the championship [2] . The championship mascot is Diva09, a green frog in a hat and glasses [3] .

Within the framework of the championship, competitions were held in 5 types of programs:

  •   Swimming in the pool of 50 meters - 40 sets of awards.
  •   Open water swimming - 6.
  •   Synchronized swimming - 7.
  •   Diving - 10.
  •   Water polo - 2.

Most of the competition was held at Foro Italico, with the exception of open water swimming, held in Ostia [4] . The competition was attended by 2438 athletes from 172 countries [5] .
