Zeta Andromeda is an eclipsing spectrally binary star . The main component is an orange bright giant of spectral class K, having a visible magnitude of +4.08 m . Due to the fact that the system is also either a variable of type RS Hounds or a variable of type β Lyra, due to rotation and mutual eclipses, the magnitude varies from +3.92 m to +4.14 m with a period of 17.77 days. Located at a distance of 181 light years from the Sun. [3]
Components
The system also has several partners. Companion B also has its own motion as the main component A. Companions C and D can be optically binary .
